LUTZ PATRIOTS -- A WONDERFUL NOTE FROM A RECIPIENT OF A RECENT LUTZ PATRIOTS PACKAGE SHIPMENT --- ENJOY READING !
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE
Dear Lutz Patriots --
I just wanted to send a short note thanking you for your great package. I can't begin to tell you how much your support is appreciated.
We arrived here three months ago, and guys are just beginning to "hit the wall." The hard work and endless days are starting to catch up to us, and is the realization that we will be on the ground for 9 more months (I can't even say "9 more months" without it hurting my stomach!!). I took your package and personally hand delivered it to my A Company who is in the process of building a new forward operating base (FOB). Because their base is still under construction, they lack even basic necessities. They have no hot water, hot food, or power. This is a short term dilemma, and we hope to be moving them into their FOB soon. In the mean time, though, your package meant a great deal. I want you personally to know that. Little things like that mean an awful lot. And we are an infantry battalion sitting out on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border (see Nawa Pass pic). Comparably, we live a hard life....we are out every single day, and the enemy is starting to make things difficult for us. Your thoughtful gift is always a needed boost to morale, and I thank you.
On another note, I am from Spring Lake...just off I-75 and 14 miles outside of Brooksville. My mother is a "Blackburn," and my family lives on the farm my mother grew up on as a little girl. We are practically neighbors!! Anyways, my heart - since I was a little kid - resides on our farm in Spring Lake. That is home to me, though I have never really lived there (just spent a lot of time there). My father is retired Army, and a Vietnam veteran as well. We all take great pride in our service....and yours as well. Past and present.
Thank you for making a difference.
Very Appreciably, Mark

This is MSgt. Cesar Howell who is serving in Afghanistan and is from Lutz! We are in communication frequently with MSgt. Howell and we sent many of the shoes donated by individuals and families in the community to him. Cesar has a heart for children and is tireless in his efforts to help an Afghan orphanage and several schools. We continue to solicit support from the community to help our heroes make a difference in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is all worth it to see their happy faces !
Please continue to support our efforts as we seek to encourage these local soldiers as well as others now serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We recently received requests from several new units that have deployed from the Tampa Bay area. The Lutz Patriots are trying to be an encouragement to these hometown heroes !
