Matt Mueller USMC Iraq... one who we supported

This is Sophia and she stole our hearts at the Lutz 4th of July Parade, 2008! She rode the float, threw out beads and candy, and can carry on a conversation while doing all of the above, non-stop! She is ADORABLE!! She is the daughter of the Green Beret soldier who walked in the parade with us. He brought all four of his children to spend the day with us!

This is Michael Traxler, Special Ops soldier standing with his son who rode the float with us on the 4th of July, 2008. Standing with them is Barbara Mueller, Lutz Patriot, and PFC Chad Lewis who was set to leave the day of the parade for Germany for training and then go on to Iraq for his second tour there. We are proud of you Chad! And Michael Traxler also! We are so grateful for these soldiers who not only risk their lives to keep us safe and free, but who also volunteer in their free time to spend the day with us for the 4th of July! THEY ARE TRULY THE BEST OF THE BEST! THIS COUNTRY IS BETTER FOR THEIR DEDICATION!

FINISHED FLOAT READY FOR THE 2008 4TH OF JULY PARADE IN LUTZ ! Other pictures will show banners and their sayings on the sides. We also had 4 Special Ops soldiers accompany us including one Green Beret! Their children rode in the float! We had a local Army PFC, Chad Lewis who is deploying to Iraq very soon and leaving for Germany this coming Sunday. His Mother and sister came along with him.

Major Michael Traxler and his children who rode in the parade.

Major John Traxler, Special Ops, who has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times. He is the twin brother of Michael Traxler and this is the first time they've been based in the same city...Tampa. With the Major is PFC Chad Lewis joking with his Mom, Pam. PFC Lewis deploys with his Army unit soon to Iraq.

The Lutz Patriots formed as a grass roots community organization in March, 2003, during the beginning of the liberation of Iraq. Initially we formed to encourage patriotism in the community by waving flags on the roadside, and to write our deployed military men and women to let them know we supported them.

Within months of organizing we determined that the soldiers spirits would be lifted if they could receive a "little piece of home" --- packages containing goods they could use and enjoy.

So with the help of many families we began mailing these packages. Our shipments have now numbered well over six thousand and many more will be sent.

We are grateful to the many local volunteers and donors who have helped and continue to ask for your support. Donations will be accepted.

Checks will be used for postage and can be made out to the:

U.S. Postmaster

Mail to:

LUTZ PATRIOTS

We invite you to join us as we wave American flags along US Highway 41 in Lutz. We are in front of the Old Lutz School, one-half mile north of Sunset Lane, every Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
